The Ha1/29 monoclonal antibody specifically binds to intergrin α2 chain (CD49b or VLA-2 α chain), the 160-kDa transmembrane glycoprotein that non-covalently associates with the intergrin β1 subunit (CD29) to form the intergrin α2β1 complex known as VLA-2. VLA-2, a receptor for collagen and laminin, is expressed on activated lymphocytes, epithelial cells, and platelets. It has been reported that Ha1/29 antibody can block VLA-2 binding to collagen and laminin. Ha1/29 antibody also reacts with mouse CD49b.
This antibody is routinely tested by flow cytometric analysis. Other applications were tested at BD Biosciences Pharmingen during antibody development only or reported in the literature.

Fluorescein (FITC) is part of the BD blue family of dyes. This is a small organic fluorochrome with an excitation maximum (Ex Max) at 494-nm and an emission maximum (Em Max) at 518-nm. FITC is designed to be excited by the Blue laser (488-nm) and detected using an optical filter centered near 520 nm (e.g., a 530/30-nm bandpass filter). Please ensure that your instrument’s configurations (lasers and optical filters) are appropriate for this dye.
