The CD43 antigen is expressed on T cells, pre-B cells and activated B cells, NK cells and granulocytes, but is not present on resting peripheral blood B cells, red blood cells, platelets and non-hematopoietic cells. CD43 is enzymatically shed from leucocyte surfaces following activation by various stimuli. CD43 appears to be involved in intercellular interactions that regulate T, B, and NK cell functions. This antibody is suitable for staining formalin-fixed, paraffin-embedded tissue sections with TUF pretreatment.

Fluorescein (FITC) is part of the BD blue family of dyes. This is a small organic fluorochrome with an excitation maximum (Ex Max) at 494-nm and an emission maximum (Em Max) at 518-nm. FITC is designed to be excited by the Blue laser (488-nm) and detected using an optical filter centered near 520 nm (e.g., a 530/30-nm bandpass filter). Please ensure that your instrument’s configurations (lasers and optical filters) are appropriate for this dye.

Flow cytometric analysis of CD43 expression on human peripheral blood lymphocytes. Human whole blood was stained with either FITC Mouse Anti-Human CD43 (Cat. No. 555475/560978; solid line histogram) or FITC Mouse IgG1, κ Isotype Control (Cat. No. 555748; dashed line histogram). Erythrocytes were lysed with BD FACS™ Lysing Solution (Cat. No. 349202). Fluorescence histograms depicting CD43 (or Ig isotype control) expression were derived from gated events with the side and forward light-scatter characteristics of viable lymphocytes. Flow cytometry was performed on a BD FACScan™ system.
