(Membrane-spanning 4-domains, subfamily A, member 1) gene. CD20 is a 33-37 kDa, unglycosylated four-transmembrane phosphoprotein. CD20 is expressed on pre-B-cells, resting and activated B cells, and follicular dendritic cells, but not plasma cells. Low level CD20 expression is observed on a small subset of normal circulating T lymphocytes. The CD20 molecule is involved in the regulation of B-cell activation.

Fluorescein (FITC) is part of the BD blue family of dyes. This is a small organic fluorochrome with an excitation maximum (Ex Max) at 494-nm and an emission maximum (Em Max) at 518-nm. FITC is designed to be excited by the Blue laser (488-nm) and detected using an optical filter centered near 520 nm (e.g., a 530/30-nm bandpass filter). Please ensure that your instrument’s configurations (lasers and optical filters) are appropriate for this dye.

Flow cyometric analysis of CD20 expression on human peripheral blood lymphocytes. Whole blood was stained with either FITC Mouse Anti-Human CD20 (Cat. No. 555622/556632/560962, solid line histogram) or FITC Mouse IgG2b κ Isotype Control (Cat. No. 555742, dashed line histogram). Erythrocytes were lysed with BD Pharm Lyse™ Lysing Buffer (Cat. No. 349202). Fluorescence histograms were derived from forward and side light-scatter characteristics of viable lymphocytes. Flow cytometry was performed on a BD FACScan™ Flow Cytometer System.
